There are many factors that need to be considered when pursuing excellent design. We always try to approach our designs from a standpoint that, in reality, we are creating a “one of a kind” work of art for our clients. We put great amounts of thought and care into every detail, from the way the house sits on the site, to the use of materials which complement the design, to the consistent architectural components placed both inside and outside.
Another important aspect is to create structures that will have a timeless quality to them. In order to achieve this, we endeavor to base our design on historical archetypes, or styles. We do our best to avoid fads and trends, knowing that what is “in” today will most likely be “out” tomorrow. However, by studying and accurately basing our work on homes that have stood for decades, or even centuries, we know that our homes will also age with grace.
All this must of course be balanced with the practicality of the structure in terms of it specific use. As the saying goes, “form follows function”. Our designs must always represent the specific needs and desires of the individuals who will be living there, and we go spend an extensive amount of time with our clients to ensure that their house is truly custom.
